
We’re just seeing reports of an active shooter situation at the STEM school at Ridgeline and Plaza in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
At about 2 p.m. the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office put out an alert tied to a shooting at a school with multiple injuries.
“This is still an active shooter situation. We still don’t know whether there is still an active shooter inside,” said a spokeswoman with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office just before 3 p.m. “Two suspects are in custody.”
The shooting happened at the STEM school at Ridgeline and Plaza in Highlands Ranch at about 1:53 p.m. Highlands Ranch is a suburb of Denver. Authorities asked the public to avoid the area. It isn’t clear if anyone is injured, but the sheriff’s office said this is an “unstable situation.”
The school has more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
Multiple injuries have been reported.
As far as we know, this is still being treated as an active and “unstable” situation. Two suspects are in custody, but there may be more on the loose.

Due to a shooting in Highlands Ranch at a @dcsdk12 school, several south-metro school districts are on lockout this afternoon. DPS is not on lockout at the current time. Afterschool activities will go on as planned. Our thoughts go out to Douglas County Schools.
