Rachel Dolezal Strikes A Deal In Welfare Fraud Case

Everyone remembers Rachel Dolezal. She’s the former NAACP leader who really got the whole “transracial” thing in the mainstream news. She’s a white woman who pretends to be black. She gamed the system. By the way– she changed her name to Nkechi Diallo in 2016, because living a lie is really fun.

Last year, we told you about how she faced a felony charge for lying about her finances in order to gain assistance. She failed to report thousands of dollars of income from her book, “In Full Color: Finding My Place in a Black and White World.” As a result, she hustled the state into giving her over $8,000 in assistance.

What ever came of those welfare fraud charges? Ugh. You don’t want to know. She reached a settlement. She’s avoiding jail time altogether. She’ll be required to pay restitution and complete 120 hours of community service instead.

Dolezal, who made headlines in 2015 after her claims of being African-American were debunked by her own parents, reached a diversion agreement on March 25 that required her to pay restitution and complete 120 hours of community service, her attorney confirmed to KXLY on Thursday.

Her attorney thinks that’s a fair punishment.

“I think it’s a fair and equitable resolution of the matter,” her attorney Bevan Maxey said. “I don’t believe she tried to obtain benefits that she wasn’t entitled to. Needless to say, she’s been through a lot. I believe this is the appropriate way to solve it.”

Dude. Everything she’s been through has been self-imposed. She has no one to blame but herself.

Maxey told KXLY that if Dolezal agrees to the terms of the agreement, her charges will be dismissed.

“I think she’s anxious to move beyond this and move forward with a productive life. She’s a very intelligent and creative woman.”
