I can’t say that I’m a fan of Chief Justice John Roberts, because, well, I’m not. After the Obamacare thing, I was so done. But whaddya know? I guess he felt like he was overdue in disappointing conservatives yet again.
The Supreme Court essentially blocked a Louisiana law that would’ve imposed new regulations on clinics that specialize in murdering babies (aka abortion clinics).
The justices said by a 5-4 vote late Thursday that they will not allow the state to put into effect a law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
Yes. John Roberts sided with the liberal justices. Kavanaugh wrote the dissent.
Kavanaugh wrote a dissenting opinion in which he said the court’s action was premature because the state had made clear it would allow abortion providers an additional 45 days to obtain admitting privileges before it started enforcing the law.
If the doctors succeed, they can continue performing abortions, he said. If they fail, they could return to court, Kavanaugh said.
I know everyone’s all, “He only sided with them FOR NOW,” but I just don’t have confidence in him anymore. Sorry, but you’re not “preserving the integrity of the Supreme Court” by siding with libs on key issues, Justice Roberts.
