The Left’s Latest Attack On Kavanaugh Is As Low As It Gets

Disability is a very sensitive subject.

While I do not have a disabled person in my immediate family, Hannah and Mock have both been very open about their challenges and experiences caring for individuals with severe cerebral palsy.

I admire both so much for their strength and courage in caring and advocating for their respective family members. They face challenges most of us wouldn’t consider.

…which is why the Left’s new attack on Kavanaugh leaves me feeling all kinds of grossed out.

They are now attacking him for allowing surgery to be performed on disabled people “without their consent.”

They’re using people with disabilities as a BLUDGEON against him.

When in fact, his ruling allowed caregivers to choose what was best for their family member… who COULDN’T GIVE CONSENT.

I don’t even know what to say here. What do people think the law should be? That doctors need to get consent from individuals who are fundamentally incapable of providing it?

The rejoinder here is, “well, SOME disabled people can make decisions for themselves.” That’s probably true. But Kavanaugh’s ruling was about individuals who, I quote, “never had the mental capacity to make medical decisions for themselves.”

History will repeat itself. During the Nazi terror the mental health institutions were purged (murdered), the disabled were purged, sterilization of those deemed ‘defective;’ US forced sterilization of young women deemed ‘troubled and African-Am men; the ‘disabled’.

In 2007, Kavanaugh was part of a three-judge panel that overturned a district court injunction blocking Washington, D.C.’s Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Administration (MRDDA) from authorizing elective medical procedures on patients who were certified to be intellectually incapacitated without first making a documented effort to ascertain those patients’ wishes. (The agency’s name has since been changed to Department of Disability Services.)

It’s SO bad, SNOPES was forced to defend Kavanaugh.
