What does this say about the Democratic Party as a whole?

They’re moving further left.

Last night, Rep. Michael Capuano’s Democratic challenger Ayanna Pressley– who’s more far left than he is– beat him out in the Massachusetts primary.

Yet another Democratic incumbent– a 10-term incumbent, at that– battered by an even more “progressive” challenger.

Capuano, a 20-year veteran in Congress, made the concession around 9:20 p.m., according to The Washington Post. His opponent in the 7th District, 44-year-old Pressley, was the first woman of color ever elected to the Boston City Council. It was Capuano’s first primary challenge during his nearly two decades in office.

She’s already been dubbed “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 2.” She wants “free” health care for all and the absolute abolishment of ICE, although she doesn’t officially identify as a democratic socialist.

She seemed surprised by her own win and took shots at our “racist” and “misogynistic” president in her victory speech.
