I grew up watching American Idol. It was a “family friendly” show my friends and I watched together. I remember getting in fierce debates with my classmates over what singers were better and why. It was fun. Every season, we’d develop stupid little crushes on certain contestants and cheer them on to victory.
This is what I did in middle school, OK?
I was not excited about the reboot. The show is over. LET IT STAY DEAD. But nope. They couldn’t resist. It’s back.
I watched 10 minutes of one episode and hated every second of it. It was lame, the judges weren’t entertaining (they’ll never beat Simon, Paula and Randy– those were the days) and you could tell that so much of the stuff was staged.
Plus, Katy Perry is irritating, being a rabid Hillary supporting feminist and all. SPEAKING OF. She’s in trouble!
Long story short, there was a 19-year-old contestant named Benjamin Glaze. Luke Bryan asked him if he ever kissed a girl and liked it (which was a play on one of Katy’s old hits), and he said no. He’s never been in a relationship.
“I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship,” he said.
WHAT A GUY.
So naturally, Katy decided to do him a “favor.” She planted one on him.
But here’s the thing. He wasn’t feeling it. He’s basically saying Katy Perry ruined his first kiss. He would’ve rejected it if she asked.
“I was a tad bit uncomfortable,” Mr. Glaze said by phone this week, after the incident aired on the season premiere. His first kiss was a rite of passage he had been putting off with consideration. “I wanted to save it for my first relationship,” he said. “I wanted it to be special.”
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” he said. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
Here’s the thing– I don’t like Katy Perry, BUT let’s state the obvious. This guy willingly walked up to the table (to be fair, there WAS an immense amount of peer pressure), and he knew what her intentions were. Yes– he was only expecting a kiss on the cheek. I get that. And he probably didn’t want to be the “snobby boy” who rejected a kiss from Katy Perry. He looked pretty uncomfortable when she planted a fast one on him, but I don’t know man. All I know is, if the roles were reversed– if a male judge planted one on a single female contestant and she later said it was unwanted– there would be HELL TO PAY.
You know it’s true.
At least he’s not claiming he was sexually harassed or anything. That’s good.
He said he does not feel he was sexually harassed and is grateful to Ms. Perry for tweeting about him.
Here’s her tweet.

If anything, this demonstrates the ridiculous double standards of feminists. In the old days, this would probably be sweet and funny, but everything is so screwy now. I’m actually surprised Katy went ahead and planted one on him, given the current state of affairs.
And I know he may seem old school, but I TOTALLY get his view on a first kiss. TRUST ME. I’m a weird old soul like that too.
What do YOU think of this entire thing?
