I used to be absolutely petrified of flying– especially after 9/11. About a year after 9/11, my family flew to Colorado to visit friends (who are basically family). I was scared out of my mind. It didn’t help that some dude in Islamic garb sat in the aisle in front of me and pulled out a Koran right before the flight. OF COURSE that happened, right? Just my luck. I was FREAKING OUT (but not in an obvious way. Only my dad knew). He calmly told me everything was going to be OK, because Jesus was watching over us.
Needless to say, I made it through the flight, but man. I was one scared kid.
I eventually grew out of my fear of flying. I fly quite a bit these days. Kimber and I just flew to DC for CPAC, then we flew from DC to NYC for Fox News with the whole crew, and then we all flew back to our respective homes.
Two solid months into 2018, three flights. Not a bad start. There are MANY more to come this year.
I’m not going to say I’m a pro– turbulence still kinda freaks me out– but man. The videos of these flights taking off and landing in the middle of the nor’easter are crazy. They’re weird to watch, because I was literally just at DCA and JFK. Not gonna lie. There’s a good chance the 9-year-old me would resurface. I mean, look!
Skies not so friendly today. Windy conditions make for a hairy takeoff at DCA today. @fox5dc @fox5weather #windy pic.twitter.com/D9U4j3ssm5

And look at this. This plane couldn’t even LAND.
Harrowing video shows a plane’s aborted landing at Reagan National Airport amid intense winds. The plane was finally able to touch down on a different runway 10 minutes later. https://t.co/DAhE40nRmY pic.twitter.com/iLZ2HSEX1G

I know a lot of people say none of this is a big deal (and in the big picture it’s not), but hyperventilating Sheldon would’ve TOTALLY been me. I know I’m not the only one either. Passengers were vomiting all over the place.
Flights full of vomiting passengers have been landing in Washington DC as powerful winds buffeted the state today.
Even the pilots were on the verge of throwing up as the planes were hit with heavy turbulence on Friday.
Holy crap. The pilots are the LAST people you want puking.
