Lawyer Thinks Exoneration Could Be In Harvey Weinstein’s Future

This is a real knee-slapper.

Apparently, one of Harvey Weinstein’s ridiculous lawyers believes a “fair” investigation into Harvey Weinstein’s inappropriate behavior will mostly exonerate him. Please ignore the fact that basically everyone in existence has accused him of sexually assaulting them.

It started with this:

A lawyer for disgraced Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein says he believes a “fair investigation” by New York’s attorney general will show that many of the allegations against Weinstein are “without merit.”

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit in Manhattan on Sunday against Weinstein and the Weinstein Co. following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

In court papers, Schneiderman says the Weinstein Co. “repeatedly broke New York law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination.”

Isn’t this the same Weinstein Co. that basically set it up so Weinstein could sexually harass people with it affecting the company? Remember this report from TMZ?

According to the contract, if Weinstein “treated someone improperly in violation of the company’s Code of Conduct,” he must reimburse TWC for settlements or judgments. Additionally, “You [Weinstein] will pay the company liquidated damages of $250,000 for the first such instance, $500,000 for the second such instance, $750,000 for the third such instance, and $1,000,000 for each additional instance.”

The contract says as long as Weinstein pays, it constitutes a “cure” for the misconduct and no further action can be taken. Translation — Weinstein could be sued over and over and as long as he wrote a check, he keeps his job.

Yeah. Shady stuff. Everyone knew about this guy’s behavior. I see no exoneration in his future.
