President Trump Is Raising Eyebrows For The Way He’s Handled Rob Porter Abuse Allegations

I will be the first to defend President Trump from unfair criticism from libs or the media.

…but when it comes to this, I’m going to have to agree that it could have been handled better.

This was far from ideal.

POOL:” The president was also asked about former staff secretary Rob Porter. Trump said “we wish him well” and that it is a “tough time” for Porter. “As you probably know he says he is innocent,” Trump added. The president said Porter did “very well” in the White House.”

While I understand that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, I think he could have done more to say that he condemn violence against women, and domestic violence as a whole.

Instead he focused on how sad it was to lose Rob Porter.

Seriously. All he had to do was add a sentence about how domestic violence is a serious offense, that he condemns it, and something about the MANY victims of domestic abuse all around the country deserving support and aid. He didn’t need to state that Porter was guilty, simply state that domestic abuse and violence against women is something he takes seriously.

He didn’t.

I think this was a significant misstep.

Surely I’ll get crap for this, but as I said, I ALWAYS defend President Trump when he is unfairly attacked… But I will not pretend that everything that ever comes out of his mouth is SO PERFECTLY GLORIOUS.

I don’t have to pretend agree with each and every thing he does. And you shouldn’t either.

It’s giving his usual detractors some pretty significant fodder, and this time I can’t say they’re entirely wrong:

Yesterday: Trump furious that he was not fully informed about the efforts of his staff to shield an alleged wife beater from consequences.

Ugh. I hate this.

And again… I refuse to defend something I don’t agree with. I think this was handled poorly.
