Report: Al Franken Will Officially Resign January 2nd

A number of Democratic lawmakers are feeling a sense of regret for urging Sen. Al Franken to resign.

Sen. Joe Manchin said, “What they did to Al was atrocious, the Democrats,” adding, “The most hypocritical thing I’ve ever seen done to a human being — and then have enough guts to sit on the floor, watch him give his speech and go over and hug him? That’s hypocrisy at the highest level I’ve ever seen in my life. Made me sick.”

Of all things to make you sick, he picks that? Come on, man.

If you recall, Franken never selected a specific resignation date, which led many to believe that he would, in fact, change his mind and stay. I thought there was a chance. I figured he’d say something like, “I’m going to let the Ethics Committee investigate this first. President Trump isn’t stepping down, and neither will I for the time being” or something.

Well, it looks like he’s really going to leave. There’s a date: January 2nd!
