I’m annoyed by this, and I probably shouldn’t be, but I am. Partly because I am still feeling all of these things I wrote about here.
But listen, Megyn has a point. I’m not taking that away from her. I just find it a little odd that she’s choosing to make this story about her.
There was a moment where her audience applauded, and she had to set them straight.
‘I feel like everyone out there is, yep, because they know this is what we do. The reason I sent him the wine and the thank you note, I believed it was better to be nice. I believed it was better not to express my anger or upset. I believed it was better to brush it off and pretend that hadn’t happened. But I think it’s well past time for us to express our upsets. For us to not worry so much about being nice and being liked and being kind and never causing offense.”
I’m down with all that. Women shouldn’t be afraid to speak up IN THE MOMENT about what they’re upset over. But we also can’t be getting upset about every freaking thing.
The pendulum has swung way too far – and I’m just hoping it balances out soon.
