Older adults (I’m not calling non-millennials old, so cool it!) joke around about other social media platforms like SnapChat and dismiss it as stupid, millennial drivel. They’re all, “What is the kids use these days? ChapSnap? ChappySnat? ChapSnat?”
I get it. There are a lot of social media apps I mock too, but I make an effort to understand them, because young people are influenced by them. SnapChat is one of those platforms, and let me tell you. It’s more than just photo filters. Here’s an example.
Teen Vogue is spreading blatant lies about gun ownership on SnapChat. It’s the perfect place to do it, because 1.) You can’t easily debunk SnapChat stories (what do you do? Make an opposing video? There’s not really a public comment section) and 2.) Young people dominate SnapChat.
Whoa. Look at the misinformation @TeenVogue is spreading on Snapchat. #2a #gunsense pic.twitter.com/JXsFQq3oNb

Listen. I bought an AR-15 last year. I wrote all about it.
See that? It’s called gun glow. (And in case you’re wondering, my shirt said, “USA IS BAE.”)
You can read the post here. Believe it or not, I wasn’t able to walk into the store, casually grab it off the shelf and walk out. I had to fill out a ton of paperwork. I had to pass a background check.
Also, I want to show you all my favorite comment on that post. It still makes me laugh.
HAHAHAHA. My pic screams trailer. Also, I’m pleased to let DirectorEvil know that my gun has been on its best behavior for the last year and a half. It hasn’t injured me or anyone else.
Anyway, back to Teen Vogue’s lies.
So much misinformation here. No– age isn’t the only restriction. And I didn’t need a license to purchase my firearm, because we have this thing called the Second Amendment. In Florida, at least, you need a license if you want to carry concealed (which I have). Also, you can’t just buy a gun on the internet and have it shipped to your house. It doesn’t work that way.
The problem here is, people who have probably never purchased a weapon in their life are trying to tell young people how purchasing a gun works. Everything about this is unbelievably ridiculous.
But as you can see, SnapChat is the perfect way to spread misinformation with minimal backlash. Teen Vogue even has it set up so people can’t share the story.
If you open the photo, at the top you can see that this particular story isn’t available to share with others. Why could that be? pic.twitter.com/U0pZJ21eYc

Isn’t that convenient?
They’re not dumb. Teach our kids the truth before TeenVogue lies to them. If they can get to the kids they’ve got the next generation. pic.twitter.com/ETTY5tuY8M

Was this intentional deception or are the writers just that stupid
— Deplorable Jingoist (@L0s4) November 5, 2017
Wow @TeenVogue, whoever wrote this is REALLY CLUELESS as to GUN LAWS & being able to get one. Don’t print lies & BS. Teens are confused enuf
— FionaRavenHunter (@FlowARiverForth) November 5, 2017
I would say I’m surprised but theyd just go tell me to have anal sex or something… #liberalism
— CLE proud (@robbyjr04) November 5, 2017
Probably. This is Teen Vogue we’re talking about.
Shameful and full of lies. Who vets this stuff, they need to hire a new editor.
— Sue Volz (@volz_sue) November 5, 2017
Are you kidding? The editor probably approved of this!
Demonstrably false info. I went thru 2 background checks (FL & MN), fingerprinted, photographed, training & test before I could carry.

A poorly researched piece. Journalists today just puke up Democratic talking points. Easy, lazy, and erong.
— Gregory James (@gajames189) November 5, 2017
Yep. This wasn’t thoroughly researched at all. These are Democratic Party talking points.
Can’t imagine why our youth is turning into a bunch of brainwashed schmucks
— Kelly Whitworth (@momyoft00) November 5, 2017
This is why. This right here.
PS– Did anyone else notice that Teen Vogue accidentally admitted that it believes it should be more difficult to purchase a weapon than to MURDER YOUR OWN FLESH AND BLOOD?
Wow.
Anyway, THAT’S why we need to keep up with the trends and latest social media crazes. I know it seems silly, but there’s some serious brainwashing going on behind the scenes.
