President Trump’s Feud With Sen. Bob Corker Heats Up

President Trump is feuding with another Republican lawmaker. Actually, this is an extension of an old feud. A few weeks back, Sen. Bob Corker announced that he will not seek re-election in 2018.

“After much thought, consideration and family discussion over the past year, (wife) Elizabeth and I have decided that I will leave the United States Senate when my term expires at the end of 2018,” he said in a statement.

“When I ran for the Senate in 2006, I told people that I couldn’t imagine serving for more than two terms. Understandably, as we have gained influence, that decision has become more difficult. But I have always been drawn to the citizen legislator model, and while I realize it is not for everyone, I believe with the kind of service I provide, it is the right one for me,” he continued.

“I also believe the most important public service I have to offer our country could well occur over the next 15 months, and I want to be able to do that as thoughtfully and independently as I did the first 10 years and nine months of my Senate career,” he added.

Following the announcement, this happened.

Then Corker told NYT that Trump is treating the presidency as a reality TV show. He also called him a liar.

“I don’t know why the president tweets out things that are not true,” he said. “You know he does it, everyone knows he does it, but he does.”

“I don’t think he appreciates that when the president of the United States speaks and says the things that he does, the impact that it has around the world, especially in the region that he’s addressing,” he added. “And so, yeah, it’s concerning to me.”

Thus, “Liddle Bob Corker” was born.

It’s not over.

On Tuesday, Corker appeared on “Good Morning America” and slammed Trump for inserting himself into the tax debate. He said the White House should leave it to the “professionals.” The same “professionals” that failed to pass meaningful health care legislation.

Trump was NOT happy about that.

I know it’s super immature, but the “couldn’t get elected dog catcher” line gets me every time.

…Corker dropped out of the race in Tennesse when I refused to endorse him, and now is only negative on anything Trump. Look at his record!

Dude. Get a new joke. Mix it up a little bit.

Corker also told “Good Morning America” Tuesday that, despite being an early Trump supporter, he is not satisfied with Trump’s presidency or his treatment of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

 

“When you look at the fact that we’ve got this issue in North Korea and the president continues to kneecap his diplomatic representative, the secretary of state, and really move him away from successful diplomatic negotiations with China, which is key to this, you’re taking us on a path to combat,” Corker said on “Good Morning America,” adding that he would like Trump to “leave it to the professionals for a while.”

 

Corker added: “The president undermines our secretary of state [and] raises tensions in the area by virtue of the tweets that he sends out.”

 

On tax reform, Corker also said that much of the discussion should be left to the committees.

Another day, another feud.
