President Trump Under Fire For Comparing Puerto Rico’s Crisis To Katrina

Another day, another controversy.

President Trump is visiting Puerto Rico today. During his visit, he put a little perspective on the situation. Yes. Things are bad in Puerto Rico. They need help. But as bad as it is, it could be much, much worse. That’s what Trump was getting at. He compared the casualties from Katrina to the casualties in Puerto Rico, but the left is now accusing Trump of saying that their crisis isn’t a REAL crisis, because more people didn’t die.

“I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you are throwing our budget out of whack. We spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico, and that’s fine. We saved a lot of lives,” Trump said. “If you look at the — every death is a horror, but if you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina and you look at the tremendous hundreds and hundreds of people that died and what happened here with a storm that was just totally overbearing. No one has ever seen anything like that. What is your death count?”

“Sixteen,” Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said.

“Sixteen people certified,” Trump said. “Sixteen people versus in the thousands. You can be very proud of all of your people and all of our people working together. Sixteen versus literally thousands of people. You can be very proud. Everyone around this table and everyone watching can be very proud of what’s taking place in Puerto Rico.”

I get what he was trying to say. He was just putting some perspective on the issue. It could’ve been much worse. They don’t have hundreds and hundreds of casualties. Isn’t that a GOOD thing?

Nope. Not when Trump says it.

– Called PR expensive
