Jimmy Kimmel Accuses Sen. Cassidy Of Lying To His Face

Earlier this year, Jimmy Kimmel delivered a tearful monologue about his newborn son, who dealt with a life-threatening heart condition. It was a tearjerker for sure, but instead of just telling the story, he made it political.

“No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life. It just shouldn’t happen. Not here,” Kimmel said.

He used his story as a plea to urge Congress to keep Obamacare. Self-righteous hags were all over it.

ANYWAY. Kimmel’s not done talking about health care. He used his most recent monologue to slam the GOP’s latest health care proposal, dubbed the Graham-Cassidy bill. They say this bill could, “replace much of ObamaCare with block grants for states.”

Kimmel hates it and accused Cassidy of lying to his face.

“A few months ago after my son had open heart surgery, which was something I spoke about on the air, a politician, a senator named Bill Cassidy from Louisiana was on my show and he wasn’t very honest,” Kimmel said.

“It seemed like he was being honest,” Kimmel continued. “He got a lot of credit and attention for coming off like a rare, reasonable voice in the Republican party when it came to healthcare for coming up with something he called — and I didn’t name it this, he named it this — the Jimmy Kimmel test, which was in a nutshell, no family should be denied medical care — emergency or otherwise — because they can’t afford it. He agreed to that.”

“He said he would only support a healthcare bill that made sure a child like mine would get the health coverage he needs,” Kimmel added.

While the Graham-Cassidy bill would keep the requirement that insurance companies offer coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, states can apply for waivers that could allow them to charge more. States could also apply for waivers for certain coverage currently mandated under Obamacare — like hospitalization and maternity care — and could weaken protections on imposing caps.

 

Kimmel informed his audience that the proposed Graham-Cassidy bill passes “the Jimmy Kimmel Test, but a different Jimmy Kimmel test. With this one, your child with a pre-existing condition will get the care he needs if, and only if, his father is Jimmy Kimmel.”

 

“Bill Cassidy just lied right to my face,” Kimmel said.

“Stop using my name, all right, ’cause I don’t want my name on it,” he continued. “There’s a new Jimmy Kimmel test for you, it’s called a lie detector test, you’re welcome to come by the studio and take it any time.”

Cassidy has since responded, telling CNN’s Chris Cuomo, “I’m sorry [Kimmel] does not understand.”

“Under Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson more people will have coverage, and we protect those with pre-existing conditions,” he said.

The deadline for a vote on this particular bill is right around the corner– Sept. 30. We’ll see what happens.
