I know this isn’t supposed to be funny, but I’m so amused by it.
President Trump met with Congressional Republicans Tuesday and apparently pitched the idea of putting solar panels on the border wall. You know. ‘Cause green energy is good, and it’ll help offset the cost of the wall.
“In a meeting Tuesday with congressional Republicans, Mr. Trump suggested putting solar panels on the wall to help the project pay for itself, according to two lawmakers who attended,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
“I think it’s innovative,” House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told the paper. “To authorize it and to appropriate it wouldn’t cost as much.”
…
“He’s been looking at a lot of options and this is a new option that he’s been looking at that sounds like its got real promise,” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., said.
It poses a major dilemma for Democrats. After all, they’re allllllllll about green energy. But at the same time, they’re adamantly opposed to the construction of a border wall. So what should they do? Do they oppose this idea, even though solar panels are awesome, or reject this idea because a wall is mean? By rejecting the idea, aren’t they basically killing the planet? I mean, that’s the argument they’d use on us if the roles were reversed.
But there you have it. That’s the latest idea. Solar panels on the big, beautiful wall.
