Josh Duggar Is Seeking Damages Over The 2015 Child Molestation Story

Yep. He’s back in the news.

Josh Duggar is seeking damages over the child molestation story that broke in 2015. Everyone kind of felt bad for him at the time, because it was years ago and the issue had been dealt with and he was a changed man and yada yada. But then we all found out he had subscriptions to Ashley Madison, and we decided he’s definitely a sketchy scumbag in many, many aspects.

ANYWHO. Back to the main story. According to the Daily Mail, Josh is “trying to join his sisters’ lawsuit against Arkansas police and In Touch Weekly seeking damages for the ‘harm’ he suffered following the tabloid’s publication of a 2015 story which claimed he molested his siblings.”

Court documents obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com show the disgraced reality star, 29, has filed a motion to intervene in the case stating he has suffered severe emotional distress, embarrassment, humiliation, and harm to both his personal and professional reputations.

 

Duggar, who was reported to have abused the girls when he was 14 and 15 years old, argues that his sisters have received sympathy from the public, but that his character has been damaged forever.

 

In March, sisters Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Joy Duggar filed a breach-of-privacy suit against the city of Springdale, the tabloid, and police officials over the release of investigative reports relating to the incident.

Um. They didn’t molest anyone, so OF COURSE they would receive sympathy from the public.

The lawsuit states the Duggar sisters spoke to investigators back in 2006 and were promised that their statements would not be made public and would only be circulated with police and child service officials.

 

The four sisters were all minors at the time.

 

But under the Freedom of Information Act, In Touch was granted the investigation records in 2015 and went on to publish at least eight stories on the report.

 

The Duggar sisters argued that under Arkansas law the police are prohibited from releasing information related to cases of sexual misconduct to children.

However, a city spokesman denies those claims.

‘The claims and allegations in this lawsuit are without merit and are false, and we are confident that the Federal Court will take the time to carefully hear the facts and arguments in this matter.

 

‘It is unfortunate that now, at this late date, the Plaintiffs have chosen to file a misguided lawsuit against dedicated public servants and seeking damages from public tax dollars.’

But again, this is specifically about Josh seeking sympathy.

Josh states that while his sisters have suffered a wave of public humiliation due to the misconduct of defendants, they have also received public exposure that has elicited sympathy – not so much with him.

 

He claims the ‘released reports have subjected him to exposure only in an intensely negative light for actions he engaged in as an indiscreet youth and that will continue to haunt him and cause him financial and emotional injury for the rest of his life.’

To quote Mock, “there are consequences for being a disgusting perv.” Period. It’s really that simple.
