January Jones is famous for being on Mad Men. I don’t know much else about her, to be honest. I do know that back in 2011 it was a bit scandalous when she got pregnant and wouldn’t tell anyone who the father was. She still hasn’t, and that’s her business, but it turns out there’s no point in identifying a father because FATHERS ARE BAD FOR YOUNG BOYS ANYWAY.
January did an interview with Red, and I knew it was about to be a doozy from the opening lines:
I’m obsessed with a quote January Jones posted on her Instagram. It reads “Crawl inside this body – find me where I am most ruined, love me there.” I read it and cried. It’s the first thing I bring up when we meet, and she says she cried when she found it, too.
I mean, it’s a nice sentiment but…chill out. I’m 100% sure they shared stories about how they’ve been victimized by the patriarchy after that.
So anyway, she stars talking about how she doesn’t have a man in her life, and this little gem comes up:
“It’s good to have strong women around a man,” she continues. “To teach him to respect women. He doesn’t have a male person in his life saying ‘don’t cry’ or ‘you throw like a girl’. All those shitty things dads accidentally do.”
Hear that? Your sons are WAY BETTER OFF without having a nasty FATHER around, because dad’s do HORRIBLE stuff like tell your kid not to cry. Nevermind having a solid family or a positive male role model or anything like that. Men do “shitty” things! MALES ARE TOXIC, Y’ALL.
I could get into all the evidence that kids with both a mother and a father are at an advantage in SO many ways. Of course there are many excellent kids that come from single-parent households, and many amazing single parents who do everything they can to provide for their kids, but to imply that it’s BETTER not to have a father around because they’ll mess your kid up with their “shitty” things and toxic masculinity? That’s really, really messed up.
The interview then trails off into how she doesn’t need a man and dating sucks and blah blah blah, when something caught my attention. She’s having a hard time finding a man because:
I want a manly man in flannel, with a beard and an axe. But then there’s always something wrong with him. Like he’s a Republican.
Oh…honey. See, there’s your problem. You want a manly man who’s not a Republican? Good luck! I want to eat sugar cream pie every day and develop a six pack. Not gonna happen.
As a side note, the original interview hyperlinks the word “Republican” in that last quote. Curiosity was killing me so I had to click it. Are you ready for this? It linked to a story called “17 Things Donald Trump Has Actually Said About Women: The new US President, ladies and gentlemen…” I guess they needed to justify how exactly being a republican means something is “wrong” with guy? THESE PEOPLE ARE BEYOND OBNOXIOUS.
