Conservative baseball legend Curt Schilling is no stranger to controversy. He’s an outspoken conservative and big supporter of Donald Trump. And get this: He wants to unseat Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts’ 2018 Senate race.
Schilling all-but-announced he would run for Senate in 2018 during a Tuesday morning interview on Rhode Island’s WPRO, according to CBS reporter Ted Nesi.
“I’ve made my decision, I’m going to run,”Schilling said.
“But I haven’t talked to Shonda, my wife. And ultimately it’s going to come down to how her and I feel this would affect our marriage and our kids.”
According to a September poll from WBZ and the University of Massachusetts, Warren holds a 19-point lead over Schilling, 47 to 28 percent. Schilling’s never run for public office before, and it’d be an uphill battle to unseat Warren (she’s popular, don’t ask me why), but hey. I’d love to see him try.
