GOP Establishment Unsatisfied With Our Candidates, Wants To Draft Mitt Romney

Jeb! is having a rough time. He knows it. His campaign knows it. I know it. The establishment knows it. I’m assuming they thought he’d be a shoo-in for the Republican nomination. I mean, it’s worked in their favor the last couple of election cycles.

We didn’t want John McCain. They did. He won. We lost the primary.

We didn’t want Mitt Romney. They did. He won. We lost the primary.

This primary race has rocked their world. The top three candidates– Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Ted Cruz– are political outsiders. They can’t understand why on God’s green earth ANYONE would trust them. Because career politicians have done such a grand job taking care of the country and all, you know.

Jeb! was their guy. But The Donald basically destroyed him. He’s done. Game over. He should just call it quits.

Instead of learning a lesson and trying to understand WHY grassroots conservatives gravitate toward the outsiders, the establishment schemes. We certainly can’t have any of those people run the country!

The latest plot? Draft Mitt Romney! Because that worked out so well last time.

According to other Republicans, some in the party establishment are so desperate to change the dynamic that they are talking anew about drafting Romney — despite his insistence that he will not run again. Friends have mapped out a strategy for a late entry to pick up delegates and vie for the nomination in a convention fight, according to the Republicans who were briefed on the talks, though Romney has shown no indication of reviving his interest.

Are you freaking KIDDING ME? No. GTFO. Who are they to tell US that we’re wrong? That’s insane. Ridiculous. Because of them, we lost the last two presidential elections. There’s no reason we should’ve lost against Obama twice.

Romney didn’t have a problem getting the oh-so coveted independent vote. He lost the base. So why are we still trying to walk the middle line? Not only that, but what makes them think we’re all of the sudden going to go bananas over Romney? Like, do they think they’re going to force us to like him? That we’ll just flock to him like mindless little drones?

It doesn’t matter how much money they’d use to prop him up. It won’t make us change our minds.

For months, the GOP professional class assumed Trump and Carson would fizzle with time. Voters would get serious, the thinking went, after seeing the outsiders share a stage with more experienced politicians at the first debate. Or when summer turned to fall, kids went back to school and parents had time to assess the candidates. Or after the second, third or fourth debates, certainly.

They assumed wrong. We are serious. Seriously tired of their crap.

The Republican Party was going through something similar in 1976, and Reagan nailed it.

“I don‘t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, ‘We must broaden the base of our party’–when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the differences between ourselves and our opponents.”

Which is exactly what they’re doing now.

“Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?”

No more pale pastels. No more McCains and Romneys. Get with the program, establishment goons.
