Member Of Devo Had The Most TASTELESS Wedding On September 11 Anniversary

It may be fourteen years since the 9/11 attacks, but trust me – NO ONE thinks this is a good idea (no one sane, anyway).

According to this, Devo singer Jerry Casale got married last week on September 11. And guess what kind of wedding they had. No really – guess. It's pretty disgusting.

But when the shocking photos of Casale celebrating his May-December marriage to 26-year-old Krista Napp surfaced Monday on the gossip site TMZ, he blamed a buddy who attended the revolting reception at a Santa Monica, Calif., restaurant.

 

“One of my friends said, ‘I’ll take care of the cake.’ That was his contribution. And it was supposed to be a surprise. Well, it was,” Casale told the Daily News.

 

The tone-deaf rocker, 67, said the cake was a joke that fell flat.

 

“I joked and said Krista and I are like the twin towers of love and love conquers all and we’re going to resurrect those towers.”

 

For Michele Miller, whose brother Mitchell Wallace, a state court officer who died while trying to save others on 9/11, Casale didn’t just cross the line — he obliterated it.

 

“I am in disbelief that someone would think to turn that day into a wedding day theme,” Miller said in an email to the Daily News.

 

“Shame on him, his wife, his guests, and even the restaurant for participating in such garbage,” she added. “A box cutter? My brother turned to ashes as the South Tower fell on him and people died at the Pentagon because of box cutters.”

Because nothing says "romance" like a Twin Tower cake and box cutter party favors for the guests.

Seriously, dude – did you put Osama's face on the invitations or something?

UPDATE: Casale has since apologized –

"I apologize to anyone who was offended," Casale told Billboard, saying the wedding reception theme was all a surprise to him and his bride. He said now the media attention it's received has "ruined our wedding." 

 

Casale explained that they had gotten married on Sept. 11 because the Beverly Hills courthouse is only open on Fridays, and that was the last Friday available before their marriage application expired. The wedding was just the two of them and a witness, and the reception was for just about 20 of their closest friends. 

 

While Casale said some of his friends had commented on whether it was appropriate that they got married on the 14-year anniversary of the September 11 attacks, calling it "macabre," he would respond that he and Napp "are the Twin Towers of love." Casale cited Donald Trump's original proposal to rebuild the two towers on the same site as a "f— you to anyone who threatens our way of life or freedom to live."
