I don’t know all that much about Seth McFarlane’s politics, and I don’t really want to.
I know that I think he’s hilarious… I appreciate a dark sense of humor.
He’s definitely buddy-buddy with Hollywood elite, which is why this tweet was surprising:
Oprah is beyond doubt a magnificent orator. But the idea of a reality show star running against a talk show host is troublingly dystopian. We don’t want to create a world where dedicated public service careers become undesirable and impractical in the face of raw celebrity.
— Seth MacFarlane (@SethMacFarlane) January 10, 2018
I sort of agree with him, I sort of don’t. I don’t think politics should become a “who’s the most popular celebrity” race. Soon we’ll have President Kardashian, and I’m just not ok with that…
ON THE OTHER HAND, I don’t like the idea of career politicians. Our public servants should be real people with real experience, not just government grifters a la Bernie Sanders.
Was this a simultaneous dig at Trump? Sure. But I have a feeling the Twitter psychos see this as DIRECT TREASON.
Their responses reveal what kind of CRAZY we’re dealing with here.
We have bigger fears. Like losing our Democracy.

…what?
Oh, honey… It’s probably not even worth my time explaining to you all the reasons this is a ridiculous thing to say, is it?
I do love Oprah, the only difference is she made millions on her own without a loan.
— Tony V (@vaccare1) January 10, 2018
Your sentence structure makes it hard to figure out what you’re trying to say. You WANT Oprah to run? Or you don’t want Oprah to run? Are you defending her? Or do you think she’s basically Donald minus a loan?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
…and then there’s this:
Did you make a similar post when Dwayne Johnson floated the idea? Or Mark Cuban?
— Tela Fey (@telafey1) January 10, 2018
Wait, wait, wait… let me guess! THIS IS SEXIST.
Yeah ok, Seth didn’t tweet about them because NO ONE TOOK THEM SERIOUSLY.
It’s actually the exact opposite of sexism towards women. Out of the three, the woman was taken seriously. The men were not. You reeeeaally wanna go there?!
They go there.
Oprah is extremely talented — she is smart, hard working, has a lifetime’s worth of valuable experience, knows how to deal w/people, has built an empire from nothing, not afraid to LEARN what she doesn’t know.
She is strong, not easily fooled & HONEST.— Archivist1000 (@Archivist1000) January 10, 2018
But She’s a woman 🙁 so in America that’s just not acceptable, plus she’s a WoC … so, the hating will begin 🙁

GOOD LORD. They just can’t help themselves with the identity politics, can they? It’s part of their DNA!
Presidents dont rule, they preside. And we have 3 branches of government, totalling hundreds of people.
— the audience (@gonnarain) January 10, 2018
Yeah?
So um… why exactly is everyone on the left so convinced that Trump will singlehandedly destroy the nation again?
AAAAAND then there’s this guy:
Why do hundreds of people have the moral right to steal from and make decisions for hundreds of millions? Land of the free? Come on, how much more collectivist do you want to get… more like home of the slaves.

Holy mother. I can’t with this… What the actual hell?
Anyway…
Your odds of becoming Secretary of State just went way down.

HAHA!
Love Scott Adams!
