November 15, 2022I used to think attacking someone meant actual physical violence. You know, like real pain. Well, apparently I’m waaaay off. Now you can say you’re being attacked if you just happen to read something you don’t agree with. Silly me.
“An instructional assistant at a Florida high school has reportedly complained about her co-worker’s parking space that quotes a verse from the New Testament, saying it offends her as Jewish person,” Fox News reported.
The offended party is named Marina Gentilesco, and she works at Wiregrass Ranch High School in Pasco County, Florida.
The horrifying verse in question? Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
Now that’s some scary stuff.
Fox News noted that Gentilesco said her parents told her stories of the Holocaust, and that “the quote from an epistle of St. Paul brings back painful memories.”
“It brings me to the verge of tears because it brings me back to the 6 million that perished. Six million perished because of our faith — because we’re Jews,” Gentilesco said.
Really? The verge of tears? That doesn’t sound exaggerated at all.
If Gentilesco wants others to respect her faith as a Jew, you’d think she’d also be kind and respect the faith of others. You know, give and take. But nah. Complaining is more fun.
To make things easier to understand for our more easily offended counterparts, I’ve broken down what it means to be attacked in a parking lot.
You’re being attacked when…
- Your coworker tries to beat you with a bat in the parking lot.
You’re not being attacked when…
- An encouraging Bible verse is painted on a parking spot you don’t even use.
It’s that easy!
I see things I don’t agree with every day. And you know what I do about it? I look away, I move along, or I scroll past. It’s not the world’s job to make sure I’m never offended. It’s my job to learn how to regulate myself and cope when I am offended.
To my surprise, the school actually didn’t cave to Gentilesco’s whining. Instead, Pasco County Schools cited freedom of expression. So, the verse stays, and Gentilesco gets to keep being offended on the daily.

What’s she whining for? Christ Himself was a rabbi and a carpenter, thus a bi-vocational Jewish clergyman. I’ve noticed that at the conservative websites, The Gateway Pundit and One Hundred Percent Fed Up, the mods consider comments containing “Jew/Jewish” as spam and deletes them, even if they’re not insults. For instance, I wrote about some orthodox Jewish women wearing wigs, (or sheitels) for the rest of their lives after they get married. I believe PJ Media and Townhall did too, before they went paywall. The mods’ refusal to allow Jew/Jewish to be spelled out and mentioned in comments, reeks of anti-Semitism and makes no sense. After all, Christ was a Jew.
While I agree they should not take down the Bible verse, I can understand her position and I don’t think it should be ridiculed. For a couple thousand years or at least when Christians had become the majority, some Christians have turned to pogroms against their Jewish friends, neighbors, and family. While not all Christian churches were involved in the persecution of Jews during pogroms or the holocaust, a lot of more of them were in involved then should have been. Martin Luther was a well-documented antisemite.
If a person has had members of their family murdered by supposedly Christians in the recent pass, you are probably not going to reassure them by telling them to get over it.

The Deutsche Kristen (‘German Christians’) was the largest branch of German Protestantism and the most supportive of a Reichskirche. Deutsche Kristen leaders considered Hitler a visionary, not unlike Martin Luther, the 16th-century founder of Protestantism. Hitler, they believed, had the potential to transform and revive German Christianity.
There was also a strong anti-Semitic strain within the Deutsche Kristen. Some of its leaders urged the rejection of Jewish texts and the expulsion of Christian converts with Jewish heritage. The leader of the Deutsche Kristen, Ludwig Muller, met with Hitler several times and promised the support of his church.
I could understand someone thinking that “I am going to kill you, cut up your body, and feed it to the sharks” are words that are somehow “attacking” them. Now maybe even if the other woman had posted a quote from Adolf Hitler on her parking space might even be thought of as “attacking”.
But a positive, encouraging quote from someone this snowflake of a woman doesn’t even believe in is not “attacking” in any way. The last time I checked, it was Hitler and his Nazi buddies who did the holocaust, not Jesus. Darn those pesky facts.
This woman needs to go home and hide in her basement.
I’m so glad the school didn’t cave. I use we would stop bowing down to these whimps.
