As my friend said when he sent me this article, “I don’t think the world can get much more insane.”
Ladies and gentlemen, a made-up sport based on a magical broomstick-flying game in a children’s book is changing their name to avoid association with the author of that children’s book and the woman who created the original magical game because that author, J.K. Rowling, dared to suggest that men cannot be women and that pretending that they can necessarily erases women. The real life sport of “quidditch” will henceforth be called “quadball” because they simply can’t fathom the idea of being in any way associated with a person who has the audacity to speak the biological truth about gender, which is, of course, considered transphobic.
LGBTQ Nation explained that the International Quidditch Association announced the name change in coordination with US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch. My goodness, that’s some serious LARPing. I can barely believe there are actually two real life leagues of quidditch and an International Association of Quidditch. In preparation for the name change, a committee was formed and surveys disseminated to assess the support for such a change. One survey respondent explained millennial sentiment, saying,
“I think the only way we’re actually going to put distance between the sport and her views is by moving on from our Harry Potter origin.”
J.K. Rowling’s original sin and the “views” that so disgust the snowflakes who LARP a magical broomstick game was a tweet which said,
“‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
How DARE she so transphobically insinuate that only women can menstruate! Her bigoted rhetoric is LITERALLY violence against trans and nonbinary people.
Then she defended her violent and despicable anti-trans rhetoric about the word “women” being the term for “people who menstruate” with an essay in which she had the audacity to say,
“All I’m asking — all I want — is for similar empathy, similar understanding, to be extended to the many millions of women whose sole crime is wanting their concerns to be heard without receiving threats and abuse… I’m mentioning these things now not in an attempt to garner sympathy, but out of solidarity with the huge numbers of women who have histories like mine, who’ve been slurred as bigots for having concerns around single-sex spaces.”
Of course, her concerns were immediately met with exactly the “threats and abuse” she was speaking out against, and she was immediately– and continues to be– slurred as a bigot for her concerns. Because “similar empathy” and “similar understanding” on this subject is something the “party of tolerance and inclusion” simply cannot extend to a woman who dares to disagree with the radical, woke, leftist, antiscientific, and extremist gender theory narrative.
So, consistent with the discrimination and vitriol that is typical of the “party of tolerance and inclusion,” the sport will sever ties with J.K. Rowling so as not to be tainted by the stink of her biologically and socially accurate assessment of the situation faced by billions of women.
There’s also the question of the “quidditch” trademark (in other words, $$$), which is owned by Warner Bro. Discovery entertainment company and not by either US Quadball or Major League Quadball, which are North America’s governing organizations of the sport. International Quidditch Association leadership explained that it really all boils down to woke ideology and money, saying,
“As vital as shifting away from the direct association with JK Rowling and the legal minefield with Warner Brothers’ many trademarks, the advantage of introducing new revenue streams into the sport is also vital to our continued growth internationally.”

In other enlightened news, the NBA has announced the changing of the word “basketball” to “round-thingy on a backboard” to distance themselves from charges of racism because the league is dominated by one race.
