Have y’all seen this interview?
I find people who feel the need to write tell-alls after their WH experiences to be super tiresome. And the endless attacks on Trump are also tiresome. But I’m one of those people, as our livestream watchers know, who recognizes how divisive Trump is, how hated he is by so many, and no matter how mad people get at me about it, I’m never going to be dishonest or cover up the fact that I hope that Trump decides NOT to run in 2024. As much as I appreciate what he did for the economy, for our standing in the world, for always putting America first – there is just way too much baggage attached to Trump. We have a hugely deep field of candidates who are really promising, who know how important it is to continue Trump’s America first policies, but who also don’t come with the same baggage.
Obviously you know my fave is DeSantis, but he’s not the only viable candidate.
Here’s the thing. Too many people who worked closely with Trump have really not-so-great things to say about some of Trump’s ideas, behavior, and erratic impulsiveness during his time in office. The video above is one example, but there are countless. At some point, the people who worked most closely with him can’t ALL be discounted, right? I mean, let’s get real.
When Trump says, “No comment” about Esper’s claims that he wanted to strike Mexican cartels with missiles, then you know it’s real. Trump ALWAYS has a comment. And that was a huge part of his problem – that he constantly made his own problems worse. It wasn’t just the media painting him in a bad light – although that was a huge part of it – SO MUCH of what people got upset about with him was self-inflicted.
Anyway, I’m not seeing a whole lot of reason for Esper to lie about the stories he tells in the video above. Happy to hear your thoughts, but if your thoughts are just, “TRUMP 2024” then you should know I’m not going to take you very seriously. 🙂 And I get it – all the Trump supporters are now furious at me – this is nothing new. You can be mad – it’s your prerogative. But your anger isn’t going to change my opinion or the opinions of millions of other people who are ready for less dramatic candidate who can bring all the strength and resolve that Trump had without the drama.
