There are some accounts on Twitter that are calling for Elon Musk to simply “turn off” all Teslas in Russia. Musk hasn’t responded, probably because the accounts look like bots. New accounts, no followers, no photos, no substantive tweet history. Here are just a couple.
Hi @elonmusk Here is an idea. Shut down all #Tesla cars in Russia with a note: Hi guys. You’ll get your cars back when you stop fighting #ukraine

Mr Elon Musk can you deactivate all Teslas in Russia, please?” also @elonmusk maybe it’s time to disable all Teslas in Russia and Belarus?

But these seemingly meaningless calls to “turn off” the electric vehicles of people who are considered adversaries shines a light on a very serious issue.
It is possible for them to simply “turn off” your vehicle if they want to make you behave a certain way.
Luckily, I don’t think Elon wants to. But imagine a country where the government succeeded in forcing everyone to switch to electric vehicles. They’re working on that initiative as we speak. Imagine that, as seems to be corporate the norm these days, the massive electric vehicle companies are in bed with the government and they work together to benefit each other, and not the people.
Maybe you used your allotted mileage for the week, so they simply turn off your car.
Maybe you posted something they decided was “misinformation,” so they simply turn off your car.
Maybe you refused to get the latest mandated vaccine, so they simply turn off your car.
Maybe you donated money to a cause they decided was “dangerous,” so they simply turn off your car. And they probably locked your account and seized the money you donated, if we’re being honest…
If they can do it to the Russians, they can do it to you. And that should terrify everyone.
