Louvre Pulls Artwork From Public View For Being Way Too Sexually Explicit

This kind of cracks me up….

With everything going on in our society, THIS was deemed too graphic?

It’s pretty obviously sexual, but it’s not like a kid would get it…. and as someone who goes to art museums often… this is FAR from the most explicit thing I’ve seen.

Let’s be honest… I see this exact thing going down LIVE every time I go to a zoo. (“Mom! What are those monkeys DOING?!” That always cracks me up…)

I mean… it’s freaking buildings. I don’t see the big fuss. It really doesn’t bother me.

Anyway… according to this:

France’s Louvre Museum is pulling an arguably sexually explicit sculpture from one of its outdoor exhibits, according to a New York Times report published Monday.

 

The work, known as the “Domestikator,” features a number of cubes and rectangles configured to presumably look like an erotic sex position. It was set to go on display in The Louvre’s Tuileries Gardens Oct. 19, but was deemed too indecent for public viewing.

 

“The piece itself, it’s not really very explicit,” the creator Atelier van Lieshout said, according to TheNYT. “It’s a very abstracted shape. There are no genitals; it’s pretty innocent.”

 

Hailing from the Netherlands, van Lieshout is fairly known for designing suggestive pieces.

 

The Domestikator has been shown at the Ruhrtriennale in Germany for the past three years, but apparently the Dutch artist’s work is too freaky for the Louvre.

I guess I really just don’t see the big deal…I don’t think kids would ever get the “joke,” and I think most adults expect a little cheekiness when they look at modern art.

Maybe society has desensitized me to the HORRORS of abstract building sex. I’m a product of the times, y’all.

Surely some of you will TOTALLY disagree with me and call me a heathen or whatnot… I just really don’t feel the need to be constantly offended by everything.

And listen, I agree that our society has  gone way too far when it comes to sexually explicit content. There’s literally more explicit material EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE you look. This seems pretty tame in comparison. I’d say basically EVERY pop music video is more “harmful” than this is. But that’s just my take.
