Critics Pounce On Trump Spokeswoman Katrina Pierson’s Political Past
Are you familiar with Katrina Pierson? She’s Donald Trump’s national spokeswoman. You know, the woman who recently wore an incredibly fashionable bullet necklace on CNN? (I still want one.) Some of her old tweets are beginning to surface, and it’s raising some eyebrows.
Apparently, Pierson has fairly left-wing past, and we’re not talking 20 years ago. In more recent times, she has criticized conservatives, mocked Christians and named Malcom X as her idol.
According to tweets uncovered by the Daily Caller, Pierson was very vocal during the death of Trayvon Martin, and she politicized the crap out of it. She accused conservatives of being racist, hateful, arrogant and bigoted. She even circulated a petition, asking her followers to “Stand With Trayvon.”
George Zimmerman should be arrested, NOW! Stand for Trayvon Martin almost 825K, we need 1,000,000! http://t.co/y6PIhZoA #liberty #justice
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 21, 2012
Around that same time, she linked to a ThinkProgress story, which highlighted the ways conservatives “smeared” Trayvon’s reputation.
Congrats! #Conservatives live up to the Left’s expectations. http://t.co/xMcTNKJ3 Can’t help you with this one! #trayvon — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 26, 2012
Also, racism.
@PolitiCajun @KMBReferee Racism vs. Racism = violence. The bloggers should be held equally accountable as Sharpton for what happens next.
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 28, 2012
And bigotry. Let’s not forget about that too. Conservative bigots looooove dead children. You know.
@stacyswimp I’m tired of the so-called moral party demonizing a child & participating in smears of the dead, spreading fake pics & bigotry. — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 27, 2012
Like, the tangents were real.
Conservative Bloggers: #Trayvon was suspended from school and had stolen jewelry before so he must have deserved that BULLET IN THE CHEST!
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 27, 2012
Pierson also spent her days mocking Christians and other “religious types.” Which is odd, especially considering Trump’s recent promise “to protect Christians.”
@lyndseyfifield There are no such things as Christians. Just people who call themselves Christians. ha — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) July 3, 2010
@michael_atx What? Now people can’t get divorced? LOL Gotta love Christians. First to name call and First to judge. #classic
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 1, 2012
@ToddKincannon All of the Santorum worshipers do that. lol They can’t handle the truth. Most of the religious types can’t. — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) January 28, 2012
Notice it’s always the Christians that are married or too old to party that tell you how U should be living your life? As if they were St’s
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 31, 2012
And she basically implied that Rick Santorum was a racist back in 2012.
Hard to argue w/Rick Santroum up front. RT @blackrepublican: Top 10 Crazy Reasons Blacks won’t join GOP: #2 The (GOP) is RACIST — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 18, 2012
Hmm, not many minority endorsements RT @BluegrassPundit: MSNBC: Rick Santorum Using Racist “Code Message” or Something http://t.co/ZzFgiBaW
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 14, 2012
Like, she had a legit problem with him back then. Then again, we’re talking about a woman who proudly voted for Barack Obama in 2008. So yeah. Not surprising.
LOL I think I’ll skip the Santorum event tonight. I only believe in Worship on the Sabbath. @Jason___Cohen @scottbraddock — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) February 8, 2012
Rick Santorum is preaching again….sigh pic.twitter.com/HaPn8zmb
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) January 16, 2012
Santorum would be great if we were electing a Jesus. #scdebate #GOPDebate — Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) January 17, 2012
I guess I can see why Trump selected her as his national campaign spokeswoman. She’s pretty obsessive.
Do “conservatives” whom no one ever heard of before 2008 all of the sudden think they own the place? Is there now a #TeaParty establishment?
— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) January 22, 2016
I kinda love Katie Pavlich’s response.
Was Donald Trump a “conservative” in 2008 or is that just a 2016 thing @KatrinaPierson? — Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) January 22, 2016
Keep in mind, some critics say these tweets may be fake and/or taken out of context, and they pull quotes from Ted Cruz and Glenn Beck– two staunch conservatives– who praised Pierson in the past. Beck gave her a platform when she ran against Pete Sessions, and Cruz called her an “utterly fearless principled conservative.”
Don’t get me wrong. Trump has brought up valid points. We desperately needed to talk about immigration. I would love to build a wall and have Mexico pay for it, but at the end of the day, it comes down to this: Do you care more about sticking it to the establishment or promoting conservatism? I care about both, and I feel like we have a couple of candidates out there who can do both (promote conservatism AND stick it to the establishment) simultaneously. Just sayin’.
