The One Debate Question That Irked Me…And A Lot Of Other People

As I've mentioned before, I'm torn when it comes to how Fox News handled the debate. I didn’t want soft, mushy questions, but at the same time, some of the questions sounded more like Democratic talking points. And while some believe that the moderators were trying to target our candidates, part of me wants to believe that they were only playing the devil's advocate. Another part of me believes they only cared about their ratings.

They covered a crapton of subjects in the debate, including Planned Parenthood’s baby chop shop. But there was one question Megyn Kelly asked that irked me.

Her question–

"Governor Walker, you've consistently said that you want to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. You recently signed an abortion law in Wisconsin that does have an exception for the mother's life, but you're on the record as having objected to it. Would you really let a mother die rather than have an abortion, and with 83 percent of the American public in favor of a life exception, are you too out of the mainstream on this issue to win the general election?"

The way that entire question was framed is lame, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.

That’s the political talking point liberals always make. They try to tug on heartstrings by appealing to the life of the mother.

NEWSFLASH: Most abortions are NOT performed to “save the life of the mother.” In most cases, it's a matter of convenience. A 1987-1988 survey found that only 2.8 percent of abortions were done to “save the life of the mother.” That was over 20 years ago. And even then, the reason was “risk to maternal health.” That doesn’t necessarily mean the mother’s life was in major danger.

Studies vary, but it’s believed that less than 1 percent of abortions are performed to "save the life of the mother." It's pretty rare.

See? It’s just a liberal talking point used to make people like Walker look like heartless extremists. It’s dumb, and I expect better.

Despite the poor question, Walker knocked it out of the park.

WALKER: Well, I'm pro-life, I've always been pro-life, and I've got a position that I think is consistent with many Americans out there in that…

WALKER: …in that I believe that that is an unborn child that's in need of protection out there, and I've said many a time that that unborn child can be protected, and there are many other alternatives that can also protect the life of that mother. That's been consistently proven.

 

 

Unlike Hillary Clinton, who has a radical position in terms of support for Planned Parenthood, I defunded Planned Parenthood more than four years ago, long before any of these videos came out…

WALKER:…I've got a position that's in line with everyday America.
