My parents are extremely charitable people. They give to countless organizations for countless causes, in addition to my mom giving of her time as a volunteer. And THAT's in addition to her helping me care for Junior Mock during his hospital stays, and being an all around great ma and grandma.
Yesterday, she gave me a copy of a letter she had written and sent back to an organization asking for money. It's one of the most awesome things I've ever read, and I'm super proud of her for it.
BEHOLD:
To Whom It May Concern:
I regret that I am returning your request form without any contribution at this time. This is my way of expressing a deep disappointment with the results of the last presidential election.
I suspect that the majority of the people benefiting from my previous contributions to your organization voted for President Obama. By doing so, they are responsible not only for the continuation of their own poverty and dependence on others, but through their vote they also will affect the financial well-being of my family, and our whole country. I understand that my refusal to help may hurt some needy and deserving people. I am a practicing Christian, and strongly believe in the obligation of helping those in need. But, I am not a rich person and I must prioritize my expenses. As far as the charities are concerned, my money will be going now to those organizations that expose the demagoguery of liberal politicans, and to those that educate people in the politics of true fairness and justice. I believe that in the long run this will benefit the needy more than funding their holiday meals.
Sincerely,
Grandma Mock
HOW MUCH AWESOMESAUCE IS THAT, you guys? I love it so much.
