Bill Maher Says Hillary Obstructed Justice And Political Correctness Is A Cancer

WATCH: Bill Maher comments on political correctness

HBO host Bill Maher told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that he believes Democrats have gone too far with their political correctness.

On Monday evening, Maher said, speaking of the Democrat Party: “They have some things to answer for. They don’t help themselves a lot and a lot of this far-left political correctness is a cancer on progressivism.”

He continued via the Washington Examiner: “When you talk to Trump supporters, they’re not blind to his myriad flaws, but they always say is, ‘He’s not politically correct.’ I don’t think you can overestimate how much people have been choking on political correctness and hate it.”

“The vast majority of liberals in this country hate it [political correctness],” Maher added. “They think political correctness has gone way too far. No one likes to be living on eggshells.”

The HBO host also took a swipe at former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, claiming she “absolutely” obstructed justice.

While he complained that the Clinton email investigation was “overcovered” by the media during the 2016 election, the HBO star conceded that Clinton’s behavior may have been unlawful.

“There’s a lot of reasons why the Democrats lost and many of them were Hillary was a terrible candidate, that’s absolutely true,” Maher said.

“She didn’t help herself [nor] the situation with the emails in terms of how she handled her answers and her actions,” Cuomo replied.

“Absolutely,” Maher agreed. “And she committed obstruction of justice. Now Trump, I think, did in much worse fashion, but I mean… smashing up your phones and your hard drives…”

Lastly, Maher said he did not trust the media as they are solely out to make a profit.

“I don’t trust the media,” Maher said in response to the media’s role in the presidential elections, the Washington Examiner also reports. “I don’t have a lot of faith because, you know, we don’t live in the era of news division as loss leaders like we used to. The news division didn’t have to make a profit.”

He added: “Then that changed and then you have to report to the board like everybody else and show your earnings and in that atmosphere they’re always going to be looking for eyeballs. That’s going to be the most important thing is getting people to click, getting people to watch. And in that atmosphere, I mean look at how much they over covered Hillary’s emails in 2016. And what effect that had on the election? Now there’s a lot of reasons why the Democrats lost and many of them were Hillary was a terrible candidate.”
