How desperate and transparent is the attempt by Democrats to try to get President Donald Trump?
Well, this is pretty bad, from two prominent Democrats, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand who is running for president in 2020.
The Buzzfeed report claimed that Michael Cohen told the Special Counsel that he was instructed to lie to Congress by Trump.
Except that the Special Counsel’s office specifically came out and refuted that.
And when some people came out and tried to parse that and suggest perhaps there was still something to the report, the Special Counsel’s Office made it very clear nothing about it was reality.
But that wouldn’t stop Democrats from investigating it, according to Schiff.
On Sunday, he said he “absolutely” would investigate the allegations in the report.
From Daily Caller:
“Absolutely. Absolutely,” Schiff told CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked whether he would investigate allegations laid out in a BuzzFeed article published Thursday.
“Congress has a fundamental interest in two things. First, getting to the bottom of why this witness came before us and lied, and who else was knowledgeable that this was a lie,” the California Democrat added.
Schiff tried to spin the denunciation of the report by Mueller.
“Also it may have to do with the special counsel wanting to use Michael Cohen as a witness in further prosecutions and wanting to make sure that the public didn’t have the perception he was saying more than he was saying, at least to the special counsel,” Schiff said.
No, that’s not the way it works.
If it were something Cohen were going to testify about, Mueller wouldn’t comment at all on it at all.
And here’s Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), the debunked report “just shows more evidence that perhaps this president did obstruct justice.”
Wait, what? And she wants to run for president?
This is seriously troubling stuff that these people don’t give a darn about facts or evidence but just show once again what it’s all about – trying to get Trump.
