President Donald Trump made his pitch today to end the shutdown, offering a temporary extension on DACA in exchange for the money for the wall.
That makes a lot of sense given that the courts are holding up the ability to eliminate DACA anyway despite the fact that it has no constitutional footing.
And many Republicans are already coming out in support of the offer, including Trump’s sometime nemesis, new Sen. Mitt Romney.
Prior to his pitch, however, Trump took part in a very important ceremony that was also making a point.
For the first time ever, according to Trump, they held a naturalization ceremony in the Oval Office.
What an honor for five new Americans to have it there and to be welcomed and congratulated by the President!
This is something that you miss when you enter illegally, the great joy and satisfaction of this moment.
