In the wake of the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, media ran a spurious story that “Jewish leaders” didn’t want President Donald Trump to come there. Turns out of course that the “Jewish leaders” they cited were a progressive political PAC whose purpose is to be anti-Trump resistance. Yet the media ran the story, some without noting who the group was. Meanwhile, most didn’t note that the rabbi of the synagogue said that Trump was “his president” and he was welcome anytime.
But them the poor rabbi who had already been through so much, being both a survivor of the shooting and then losing precious members of his congregation, found out that people could add a little more hate into the mix.
Rabbi Jeffrey Myers said he’s receiving death threats after telling CNN President Trump is welcome at the Tree of Life synagogue. Myers was leading services at the temple in Pittsburgh when a gunman opened fire Saturday, killing 11 people.
“The president of the United States is always welcome,” the rabbi said Monday. “I am a citizen, he is my president. He is always welcome.”
The rabbi denounced the hate.
From Daily Mail:
He revealed on Tuesday morning that he has since been inundated with abuse for saying so.
‘When I first said that the president was welcome, I’ve received a lot of emails, too numerous to count, I’ve received many that are not happy with those words.
‘Those emails also contain hate. It just continues in this vicious cycle. We need to be better than this.
‘We can be better than this,’ he told CNN.
What kind of people would do something like that? Has your TDS so deranged you, is your liberalism so extreme that it truly would drive you to do such a despicable thing?
But guess what?
Although he certainly could have declined to meet with Trump because he certainly had a lot of things to attend to given the sad duties he had to perform, he wasn’t backing down and letting hate win.
He met with Trump, the First Lady, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and Steve Mncuhin all of whom came.
The dark haired man you see in the picture is Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer.
May God bless the victims who have passed from us and may they rest in peace.
