Republicans Cave to Democrats on Kavanaugh — Approval Suddenly In Jeopardy

Looks like Democrats are now in the next phase of their efforts to derail the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation. Now that the woman who has made a sexual misconduct allegation against him has come forward, Democrats are calling to postpone the vote and at least one Republican member may be going along with them on it.

From Daily Caller:

Following The Post report, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Twitter that the accusations must be “thoroughly investigated” before a confirmation vote can proceed.

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, similarly said in a statement that the Senate should delay consideration of Kavanaugh’s nomination until federal investigators have completed an inquiry.

“I support Mrs. Ford’s decision to share her story, and now that she has, it is in the hands of the FBI to conduct an investigation,” Feinstein said. “This should happen before the Senate moves forward on this nominee.”

This despite the fact that Feinstein sat on these “serious” allegations since July until it could give maximum damage and delay to the process.

Not to mention are questions about the allegations themselves from the fact that she doesn’t remember where it occurred or exactly when, and the two people she claims were there have both denied that it occurred, Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, the other alleged boy involved.

But Republicans are now wavering.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) is saying he doesn’t think the vote should be held “until we hear more.”

And then there’s Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC):

And Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).

And even the White House is reportedly amenable to having her heard from as long as Kavanaugh can be heard from too, both under oath. They’re showing they really believe in Kavanaugh and want Ford to state her claim under oath.

But if there was any question at all this was a tactic, let’s hear from Sen. Dick Durbin:

Too soon? Like, let’s hold it after November when you hope for the votes to block it? After Democrats sat on it for months?
