On Friday, former president Barack Obama got a lot of attention from the media for attacking President Donald Trump in his speech as the opening salvo in his campaigning for the Democrats for the 2018 midterms. And his speech reminded many of what was wrong with him, his administration and why people shouldn’t vote for the Democrats. But while the media still loves him, the people sure didn’t show him much love at his next stop in Anaheim, California.
According to Think Progress:
About 750 people attended the event at Anaheim Convention Center, where Obama delivered a short speech centered on unity and the “politics of hope.” And, after a story about getting kicked out of Disneyland when he was caught smoking in the Magic Kingdom after a concert as a teenager, Obama issued an impassioned critique of Trump and the state of American democracy and encouraged the crowd to back the candidates he came to support.
750?! That’s it?! That is really odd – and this was reported by far left-wing outlet ThinkProgress, so it’s probably accurate.
Especially compared to how many people Trump continues to draw, packing thousands into stadium and still lines around the block.
Is that an indication of how many will come to vote? No, not necessarily.
But it surely is a comment on how many want to hear what Obama has to say and what a draw (or lack thereof) he is.
You mean you’re in leftist California and that’s all you can draw?
As Trump derisively said, he listened to the Obama speech and “I fell asleep.”
The speech just goes on and on, demonizing the right, without any real grab as to what positive things they intend to work on to help make your life better.
And if he’s the Democrats’ secret weapon to try to get people out, they don’t have much to offer.
This report was disingenuous suggesting more were there, but immediately got called out.
Once upon a time, seems so long ago, Chris Matthews spoke about the thrill that Obama gave him, that “tingle up the leg.”
Looks like the thrill is gone…
