Antifa-Loving Professor Who Beat 7 Trump Supporters with Bike Lock Is Sentenced

Last year, violent Antifa protester Eric Clanton, who also happened to teach ethics at Diablo Valley College, was involved in beating numerous people including Trump supporters with a chain with a bike lock on it. He was later arrested for his actions. Now, the verdict is in on the charges he faced and it’s not good.

Eric Clanton was charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury. But he got a deal for three years of probation, according to court records.

From Berkeleyside:

Eric Clanton had been linked by police to violent assaults with a metal bike lock during a “free speech” rally in Berkeley on April 15, 2017. Before his arrest, Clanton had been “outed” online, on the website 4chan, as someone who used a bike lock to strike a man in the head. The assault was captured in a video clip (below) that drew widespread attention and anger after it was posted on YouTube.

But that was knocked down to a plea of ‘no contest’ to one misdemeanor battery charge.

The felony charges against him were dismissed, and an allegation that he had caused serious bodily injury was stricken. A misdemeanor charge that Clanton wore a mask during the commission of the crime also was dropped.

Police said, previously, that Clanton attacked at least three people with a metal U-lock during the April 15 rally in and around Civic Center Park. Court papers later revealed that Clanton struck at least seven people in the head, according to authorities. One person received a head laceration that required five staples to fix. Another was uninjured but had a piece of a helmet broken off. A third was struck across the neck and back, police wrote.

When the police searched his home, they found a lot of things connecting him to “Anti-Fascists and Anarchy political groups,” including flags, patches and pamphlets.

Berkeleyside described Clanton this way last year after his arrest:

Clanton was a student assistant at San Francisco State University in 2013, according to the SF State paper, Golden Gate Xpress. He worked at the college as a graduate teaching assistant until 2015. Clanton began teaching at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill in 2015, though he was not active this semester. According to Transparent California, Clanton taught philosophy for the Contra Costa Community College District in 2015 and 2016, and was paid as a lecturer last year by California State University.

“His work in political philosophy … centers on mass incarceration and the prison system,” his Diablo Valley faculty page entry read, though it has since been taken down. “He is currently exploring restorative justice from an anti-authoritarian perspective.” According to his brief DVC bio, he taught an intro philosophy course that included instruction in “ethics, critical thinking, and comparative philosophy.” Clanton listed “ethics and politics” as his main research interests.

Not sure where he learned ethics and it’s most definitely troubling to wonder what he might have been teaching students.

But pretty sad that this is the result, that he just gets probation, after attacking at least seven people.

What a bunch of white trash!!! Express your opinion, but don’t hurt other people just because their opinion is different. Disgusting display of a human being.

I’m sure he received probation so that he could go straight back to work at the school that, no doubt, supports him and teach new and empty headed students his brand of political ethics.

The “Judge” should be not only taken from the bench, he should also lose any and ALL legal Licenses to practice in the U.S.
