Candace Owens Denied Covid Testing Over Her Politics

OPINION | This article contains political commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

Hidden political biases have been running rampant. Social media companies are able to hide behind arbitrary “community standards” violations and claims of “my bad, must have been the algorithm”. When Donald Trump is banned from Twitter but the Taliban’s spokesman has free reign with his account, when the mother of a fallen Marine is banned after ranting about Joe Biden (account now restored with another, “opps, how did that happen”, no one is surprised when the party of tolerance rears its ugly head.

Still, it’s usually excused or swept under the rug. When I see a blatant example of leftists saying “YOU’RE THE ENEMY” I’m endlessly amused. The veil has lifted, the Emperor has no clothes, they’re just angry hateful people. And here is the latest example of virtue signaling hypocrisy.

Candace Owens has been declined access to a Covid test at Aspen Laboratories in Aspen, Colorado, because she’s Candace Owens. Candace’s assistant booked a test to comply with travel regulations, only to receive this email in response.

“I’ve just learned of this testing request and as the owner of this business am going to refuse this booking and deny service. We cannot support anyone who has proactively worked to make this pandemic worse by spreading misinformation, politicizing, and actively dissuading people from receiving life-saving vaccinations.

The only other local testing option is the free kiosk by city hall. They mail their tests to Texas and have inconsistent result times, do not take appointments so it’s walk-in only mid-day weekdays in their back alley.

My team and myself have worked overtime to exhaustion, unpaid and underpaid, this past year spending our own capital to ensure that our community remains protected. It would be unfair to them and to the sacrifice that we have all made this past year to serve you.”

I, like Candace, found this email absolutely hilarious. Imagine the mental gymnastics it takes to convince yourself that you’re so self-righteous in fighting this health crisis that it would be good for your community to deny someone assistance in adhering to covid safety measures. Imagine thinking your opinions are so important that they should override health guidelines, when you think other people’s opinion about those same health guidelines are harmful and political. Then imagine accusing someone of politicizing covid…while politicizing covid.

Candace responded to the email.

I wanted to let you know that this might be the most hilarious email I have ever received in my life.

Truly, I’ve never laughed harder.

Nothing screams “this virus isn’t political” quite like googling the names of the people who book tests with you and determining on a case by case basis whether or not you will let them comply with you community covid measures. Nothing screams “I love my community” quite life refusing to test people who are going to a local event and wish to ensure they are negative and therefore do not spread the virus.

That nobody stopped you from hitting send on such an emotionally unstable and hysterical email leads me to believe that the people who work for you must love me, and would therefore never deny me this entertainment.

It’s hard to pick just one, but I think the best part of your virtue-signaling rant is the arrogant assumption that you’re the only person who can administer a covid test from here to Texas.”

I don’t know if it’s simply Candace’s vaccine status that they have an issue with or her politics in general. The left does think she’s a white supremacist after all.

I personally assumed that Covid testing facilities deal primarily with the unvaccinated, and for a variety of reasons. I have vaccinated friends who believe they are immune to Covid and therefore never need to get tested again in life. Don’t worry, I’m not good friends with these nut jobs; mere acquaintances. I have other friends whose symptoms were mild so they assumed they didn’t have Covid, until they lost taste and smell. And I know of a few others who are simply hesitant to add to the “vaccinated with Covid” numbers, so they decline to get tested when they fall ill. Denial. It ain’t just a river in Egypt.

So I assume testing facility are swamped with the unvaccinated and they are used to such individuals. If that’s the case, this goes far beyond the already absurd claim that the unvaccinated should be denied medical care, and into the straight Candyland mentality of thinking you should wield power, perceived or otherwise, as a political club with which to bludgeon all who stand against you.

I think it would be interesting to ask Suzanne Lee where she stands on the “just bake the cake” argument that has been turning Colorado courts in knots for the past few years.

Perhaps it would help people distracted by dislike for Phillips’ beliefs to keep in mind that a state strong enough to declare that a baker must make a cake with pro-transgender messaging is also one strong enough to declare that a business must make things with anti-transgender messaging.”

Aspen Laboratories isn’t the only testing facility in CO, and I’m not asking people to boycott or spam them with messages. Their own stupidity is all the punishment they need. But I do want leftists who support this kind of political discrimination to think long and hard about where it does when the shoe is on the other fit.

It’s either discrimination in both cases, or it’s their legal right to decide who to do business with. In both cases. Candace thinks it’s their right as as business to decide who they want to do business with. So what’s your call, leftists? And think real hard about that before you answer!
