Caitlyn Jenner is speaking with political consultants as she actively considers running for the governor of California, according to AXIOS.
Gavin Newsom is currently facing a recall election and a possible challenge from a celebrity like Jenner, a Republican, and a previous Trump supporter could shake the ground for Newsom.
Jenner has a strong possibility to draw heightened attention to a campaign if she decides to join the race For Governor of California.
Jenner is being assisted in her consideration by Caroline Wren, who is a longtime GOP fundraiser.
Wren first met Jenner through her work with the American Unity Fund, which is a GOP nonprofit that is focused on LGBT issues.
Both Wren and a spokesman for Jenner declined to comment on the matter.
Jenner first caught eyes across the nation when she won the 1976 Olympic decathlon.
Jenner transitions to a female in 2015 and adopted her new name.
Years later, Jenner returned to the public spotlight in the reality show “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”
More from Axios:
Republicans have launched a recall campaign against Newsom, angry about his immigration and tax policies. The effort gained momentum amid added criticism of the governor’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2003, California Gov. Gray Davis, a Democrat, faced a similar effort.
He was recalled and replaced by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former bodybuilder and star of the “Terminator” movie series.
