Biden Administration Cuts Citizenship Application Questions By Half

OPINION | This article contains political commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

The Biden administration is changing the number of questions on the citizenship application from 20 to 10 according to The New York Post.

Some of the possible questions cut from the test were as follows:

One discarded possible question asked, “The words ‘Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness’ are in what founding document?” The only correct answer is the Declaration of Independence.

Another now-discarded Declaration question asked, “What founding document said the American colonies were free from Britain?”

Yet another asked to name one document that influenced the US Constitution. Answers included the Mayflower Compact and the Declaration of Independence.

Because I like to keep things fair and honest, it should be noted that the changes to the test were just made by the Trump administration in December of 2020. That is kinda late in the game for the administration. If the expansion of the test were that important, why didn’t they change the test earlier?

Because the test was changed so suddenly, there were questions about the fairness of the changes.

Multiple commenters noted that there was little advance notice before implementation of the 2020 civics test, which raised concerns about limited time for study and preparation of training materials and resources,” USCIS said in a policy alert Monday.

“Due to the comments and in keeping with the Executive Order on Restoring Faith in Our Legal Immigration Systems and Strengthening Integration and Inclusion Efforts for New Americans, USCIS will revert to the 2008 test.”

After April 19, only the old test will be used. Before then, applicants will have a choice.

This concern is understandable. However, they could have just delayed the new test from being enacted until 2022, thereby giving applicants plenty of time to prepare. We should be making the bar for citizenship a bit higher. It should be tough work to become a citizen. If someone really wants it, they need to learn about this country and our history.

Of course, this is not what the Democrats want. They want the masses to pour in, regardless of their knowledge of our country or what value they bring. The important thing to Democrats is that they add more voters to their rolls and make more people dependent on government since Democrats who support the nanny state as a way to maintain their power.
