CBSN Reporter Can’t Control The Narrative With Trump’s Lawyer

OPINION | This article contains political commentary which reflects the author's opinion.

Michael Van Der Veen OWNED this CBSN reporter and I couldn’t be more amused if he walked around whooping asses in a bunny suit. He nailed this interview. And then literally dropped his mic.

Trump’s lawyer, who looks like he’s just plain out of effs to give, conducts a civil interview but he’s no pushover and he’s not about to let the news reporter misconstrue the case or his words, or let her get away with asking leading questions. He calls her OUT.

His main point goes completely unanswered by the reporter. When will the news media do its job and present the American people with facts instead of a set and biased narrative? When will they care about little things, like evidence DOCTORED by our elected officials, enough to ask questions and investigate a real story?

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that journalism school has been reduced to a few acting classes, learning to memorize monologues, and maybe a few crayon coloring projects to satisfy course hour requirements.

They don’t DO anything. Except get offended, maybe cry a little.

I have a great amount of disdain for what the mainstream media has become so maybe I’m not the right one to criticize them. I haven’t been impressed for the last two and a half presidents and I don’t see that changing any time soon (Joe Biden is the half, because I can’t figure out if he really knows he’s president or if he too is simply reciting what’s in front of him).

Reporters these days are a joke and anyone with balls would call them to task and hold their feet to the fire every chance they get. Van Der Veen does exactly this. I FEEL his frustration and I agree with it wholeheartedly.

This was not an interview, this was not journalism. The reporter read off her script as directed with seemingly little  understanding of the information at hand. When Van Der Veen didn’t let her get away with her narrative, she was stumped and didn’t know how to direct (or control) the interview from there. And he took control.

I’m not ashamed to say that I watched this full seven minute interview more than once, and I actually laughed out loud. Then I sent it to my husband and my group chat with friends. Show me more of this!!

Please let him give all the interviews from now on! At least let Michael Van Der Veen give a course on interview skills to the GOP members. I think I could be happy in a world where competent people were in charge. Let the managers of Chick-fil-A handle things like counting votes in the elections, or organizing literally anything, and let Trump’s lawyer handle speaking to the press. Between him and McEnany we’d see nothing but slam dunks.

And okay, clearly I’m being facetious about Chick-fil-A handling actual elections, but if we could at least get them to run the school pick-up lines…
