If “Believe all women” and #MeToo were legitimate movements, the mainstream media would be all over the latest claims to hit the news. Instead, we’re relying on foreign media to cover the stories that our biased media simply won’t touch.
Governor Andrew Cuomo ex-aide, Lindsey Boylan, claims that he sexually harassed her for YEARS when she worked for him. Boylan, who worked as an aide in Cuomo’s administration from 2015-2018, recently took to Twitter with her accusations. She claims that not only was the sexually harassment witnessed by others, who did nothing to help, but she was not the only victim of Cuomo’s abuse of power.
So, what’s the protocol here? Do we go to his office and bang on the door yelling “shame!”? Do we have to do it naked? Because it’s cold out and I’m not a fan of covering my nips with electrical tape as people who like to yell their affronts to the sky are wont to do. Isn’t that how we “believe all women”? We take to the internet to demand his resignation in waves. When does that start?
I’m not making fun of or devaluing Boylen’s experience at all, but I would sincerely like to see a little bit of consistency from the left when it comes to the situations THEY say we should unify over and share equal outrage. Where are they now?
You may remember a rather awkward television exchange 2017 when a reporter asked Cuomo what his administration intended to do about the sexual harassment allegations and ethic complaints filed regarding Sam Hoyt, Cuomo’s economic advisor. The accuser, a former employee who is unnamed, eventually settled for $50,000 after filing suits against both Hoyt and Cuomo. I could not find an official response from Cuomo’s office outside of what he said in this YouTube video.
Oddly enough, if you do an internet search for Democrats who’ve been accused of sexual assault the top 10 articles are all from 2017. I find this extremely unusual considering Tara Reade’s accusations of being sexual assaulted by Joe Biden were a big deal THIS year. Or, they would have been news if he was on the right. Despite Katie Hill being a woman, I’m surprised that her 2019 investigation by the House Ethics Commission about a sexual relationship with a subordinate was not bigger news and that scandal also does not appear in a simple search. If you don’t already know what you’re looking for, you just can’t find it.
Cuomo’s name is flying around as potential Attorney General, so I imagine this story will disappear for a year if Democrats want him in the position. I guess only time will tell. Out of curiosity, I searched Democrats accused of domestic violence this year and found quite a few stories of accusations and arrests as well. From Governor Newsom’s advisor and friend, Nathan Ballard, who is a well known Democratic strategist arrested and jailed on two felony domestic violence charges including alleging trying to suffocate a four year old (he sounds like a peach) to lower profile politicians like Brett Gagnon or Dana Ferguson. The pattern remains the same, Democratic politicians and their scandals are flying under the radar while it feels like Republicans are continuously being tried in the court of public opinion before there’s even proven to be a case. It must be nice when your side owns the media and you can get away with doing whatever you want as long as you toe the line. What an existence.
