Fox reported in March 2019 that President Trump called 44-year-old Jay Barrett of New Haven, Connecticut, fulfilling the man’s dying wish.
Mr. Barrett suffered from cystic fibrosis and is terminally ill. He was sent home from the hospital to begin receiving palliative care at his sister’s home. His sister is West Haven City Councilwoman Bridgette Hoskie. She is not a Republican, and, according to the Fox report, describes herself as “100% Democrat.”
He told his sister that his dying wish was to receive “some sort of contact” with President Trump before he died. She posted on social media to get the word out and it worked.
In true Trump fashion, he made it work and then some. The sweet exchange was caught on video. Eric Trump and other members of Trump’s cabinet have called to wish Jay well.
In the video, you see Barrett clearly sick but strong enough to stand on his own for the phone call.
President Trump: “Hello”
Jay Barrett: “Holy Christ.”
President Trump: “Alright, Jay, you look handsome to me. I just saw a picture of you.”
Jay Barrett: “Oh, you’re giving me kind honors. I look like sh*t.”
President Trump: *laughing* “How are you doing? How is it going, Jay?
Jay Barrett: “It’s going, you know what I mean?”
President Trump: “You’re a champ. You’re fighting it, right?”
Jay Barrett: “That’s what the Irish do, right?”
President Trump: “Yeah, that’s what the Irish do — you better believe it. You look good. I wish you could come to a rally. I wish you could come. I know you like that stuff, and I wish you could. … It sounds like you have a great sister, Jay.”
Jay Barrett: “If you can pencil me in, I will find a way to get there.”
President Trump: “I tell you what, when I am around that territory and I know where you live, I know it well, when I am around that territory you will be sitting front center.”
Jay Barrett: “I plan on coming down to DC between now and my expiration date.”
President Trump: “Don’t even talk about expiration dates. You’ll be surprised. You know and I know my people. You’ll be surprised. I just sent you a little note too, I wrote out a little note. I guess we sent it to your sister but you’ll get it. I read a beautiful story about you and I said: ‘I want to call that man. That’s my kind of guy.'”
Jay Barrett: “Mr. President, through thick and thin, you know there’s been a lot of thicks, and there’s been a lot of thins, I support you.”
President Trump: “Wow, that’s beautiful man. We love you, Jay. We love you, man. That’s really beautiful what you just said, I won’t forget it.”
Jay Barrett fought to make it to the 2020 election so that he could vote for Donald Trump again but sadly lost his battle and passed away on March 13, 2019.
We don’t see many candid videos of Trump and his kindness because that doesn’t play well in the liberal media. They want to continue the narrative that Trump is narcissistic. It is harming the soul of America, but they don’t care.
I needed to see this today, and I hope it brings you as much joy as it did me.
