Shepard Smith Got Himself A New Gig.

Raise your hand if you’re like me and completely forgot Shepard Smith existed.

He’s baaaack, y’all.

Shep will be hosting a one hour nightly news show on CNBC starting this fall. It’ll be called “The News with Shepard Smith” and it’s going to air at 7pm weekdays, competing with Martha MacCallum’s spot on Fox.

CNBC’s chairman released a statement which read in part:

‘We aim to deliver a nightly program that, in some small way, looks for the signal in all the noise. We’re thrilled that Shep, who’s built a career on an honest fight to find and report the facts, will continue his pursuit of the truth at CNBC.’

56-year-old Shep also got himself a fancy title – Chief Breaking General News Anchor and Executive Editor. He said he is “honored to continue to pursue the truth, both for CNBC’s loyal viewers and for those who have been following my reporting for decades in good times and in bad.”

The new show will start basically exactly one year after his departure from Fox, which I’m sure is all part of his non-compete agreement.

There is sure to be plenty of Trump criticism and probably criticism of his former network as well, and plenty of Shep’s trademark snark. He was at Fox for 23 years.

So. Will you watch?
