Scary Stickers Strike Again…And This Time, They’ve Annoyed The Atheists.

Scary stickers strike again. Previously, it was a “racist” thin blue line symbol – now it’s a monstrous motto that’s wreaking havoc.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Department is catching hell (from atheists, no less) for placing “In God We Trust” decals on patrol cars.

Needless to say, the Freedom From Religion Foundation is quite unhappy. Aren’t they always? These misguided people just seem perpetually bitter and angry to me.

Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the organization, called the decals that feature an American flag and the words “In God We Trust” both “inappropriate and exclusionary,” and frightening and politically dubious” in a letter to Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

“Spending taxpayer time placing religious messages on patrol cars is beyond the scope of secular government.”

Gaylor and her atheist allies are demanding that taxpayer time be used to remove the decals, though…to protect the citizens of Brevard County from principles and tradition and other horrific all-American stuff. In fact, they want that kind of sentiment stricken from all county property.

But Sheriff Ivey isn’t having it. He intends to stick to his guns in this sticker showdown – and to keep the patriotic graphics that display the national and Florida state motto right where they are.

He told Fox News:

“They have a better chance of me waking up thin tomorrow morning than they do of me taking that motto off our cars. I personally believe that our country is at a tipping point, and if we, as strong patriotic Americans, don’t stand for the principals of our great nation, we are going to lose the America we all know and love!”
