Ya know when you read something to yourself in a space where it isn’t socially acceptable to hyena-laugh, so your laugh morphs into a strong nasal exhale?
Welp, apparently I should’ve waited until I wasn’t in front of an entire waiting room of people to read this. But, thankfully I blew my nose earlier (insert finger guns).
“Maxine Waters is now complaining on MSNBC that she can’t go to the grocery store without security.”
Maxine Waters, who infamously instructed her supporters to harass Trump officials in public and "tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere…"

She goes from explicitly demanding that her supporters should publicly pester Trump officials last year, and then is unhappy with mirrored behavior from individuals who oppose her…
Also, can we all take a moment to visualize Maxine Waters just waltzing into any ol’ local grocery store all willy nilly? Yeah, neither can I.
Acting like she’s Hitler just strolling along the aisles, getting tomatoes thrown at her. PAH-LEASE.
She goes from this –
“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up,” Waters was recorded shouting at her supporters in June 2018. “And if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
To this –
“I can’t go to the grocery store anymore by myself. I have to pay for security all the time […] I can’t move around the country without security […][Trump] should not be going after anybody,” Waters told MSNBC host Ali Velshi. “He is the president of the United States of America. He is setting some of us up to be killed. I have death threats constantly. There are a number of people who have been convicted for threatening to kill me, and when [Trump] does that he’s dog-whistling to the white supremacists, the KKK, and the dangerous people,” she continued. “We have stories about many of those white supremacists who do nothing but practice how they’re going to be involved in a civil war and fight against this government. This president is irresponsible in so many ways aside from making us a target of these white supremacists.”
EVEN SPIDERMAN COULDN’T MAKE THAT LEAP.
The contrast is uncanny. There is no line with Maxine Waters. THE LINE IS A DOT TO HER.
Here’s my best impression of her in this moment – you ready?
AHEM, “LeT’s gO hArAsS. BuT BeInG hArAsSeD iS bAd.” (Yes, that’s supposed to be my mocking font).
All I’m saying is that you can’t announce a call to action regarding a supposed ‘behavioral principle’ and simultaneously expect that nay-sayers won’t also follow that call to action how they best see fit against you. It’s interesting what happens when you encourage a climate of hatred when the very hatred you encourage is then turned back around on you.
Just figured I’d leave this last little nugget here for your eye-rolling pleasure…
“So, I think people know me,” she continued. “And I think that they know I have the best interest of this country at heart and that I’ve worked very hard and that I’ve spoken truth to power in ways that many others didn’t even have the courage to do it.”
