As I mentioned a while back, Joe Biden told an audience in New Hampshire an incredibly powerful story about a Navy Captain who refused the Silver Star Biden was to pin on his chest.
According to Daily Wire:
The Washington Post reports that Biden told the story of a four-star general who asked Biden, when he was vice-president, to take a dangerous trip to Kunar province in Afghanistan so he could put the Silver Star on the chest of a Navy captain who had rappelled down a 60-foot ravine under fire and brought back the body of an American soldier.
Biden said he was warned about the danger of the trip but bravely insisted, “We can lose a vice president. We can’t lose many more of these kids. Not a joke.” Biden claimed that when he attempted to pin the medal on the Navy captain, the soldier responded, “Sir, I don’t want the damn thing! Do not pin it on me, Sir! Please, Sir. Do not do that! He died. He died!”
(Sorry to interrupt, but I feel the need to clarify that whoever wrote the source called the Captain a soldier. Not me. He’s a sailor. ANYWAY, moving on.)
Addressing the silent crowd, Biden concluded, “This is the God’s truth. My word as a Biden.”
only there’s one liiiiittle problem.
That didn’t happen. not even close.
The Post succinctly commented, “Except almost every detail in the story appears to be incorrect.” The Post delineated how Biden conflated different stories in order to create his whopper, crediting interviews with more than a dozen U.S. troops, their commanders and Biden campaign officials to help them discover the truth.
The Post wrote:
Biden visited Kunar province in 2008 as a U.S. senator, not as vice president. The service member who performed the celebrated rescue that Biden described was a 20-year-old Army specialist, not a much older Navy captain. And that soldier, Kyle J. White, never had a Silver Star, or any other medal, pinned on him by Biden. At a White House ceremony six years after Biden’s visit, White stood at attention as President Barack Obama placed a Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest award for valor, around his neck.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.
The Post concluded, “The upshot: In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony.”
Leftist “The View” co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg are now DEFENDING him, saying he’s not a liar… but rather that he’s a GOOD STORYTELLER.
“I don’t think it’s age. I think sometimes you’ve been telling a story a long time — it grows. I’ve done it … you tell a story and it’s like ‘Oh, you know what and remember that happened too?’ And then suddenly you were marching up the hill, and then you brought all the kids, and then you had your own baby, and you delivered it yourself,” she said.
When Hostin responded, she said it was “unfortunate” that people were making Biden’s comments an “issue of mental clarity as opposed to someone who is just trying to be a good storyteller.”
WHAT THE HELL.
And of course, as always, they’ve decided that Trump is soooo much worse.
According to Fox News:
The hosts also took turns comparing Biden to President Trump, whom they claimed was much worse.
“If he was running against Abraham Lincoln, he’d have an issue,” co-host Joy Behar commented, “but he’s not.”
Earlier in the segment, Behar also said Biden looked like the theoretical physicist Albert Einstein compared to Trump.
“Compared to Trump who thinks Frederick Douglass is alive and who looks directly into the sun during an eclipse — this guy is like Albert Einstein.”
Behar added that Biden was like “teflon” in that people continued supporting him despite his gaffes. When co-host Abby Huntsman pointed out that Trump supporters said the same about the president, Behar predicted that his approval rating would decline when “the recession comes.”
They can’t WAIT for that recession, huh?
