Famed ‘Jeopardy’ host and AMERICAN TREASURE Alex Trebek brought a tear to many eyes (mine included) when he revealed earlier this year he was battling pancreatic cancer:
“I have some news to share with all of you, and it’s in keeping with my longtime policy of being open and transparent with our Jeopardy! fan base. I also wanted to prevent you from reading or hearing some overblown or inaccurate reports regarding my health. So therefore, I wanted to be the one to pass along this information. Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.”
Oomph. It hits right in the heart, even now.
“I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” he added. “And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
Months later, despite the incredibly poor odds staked against him, Alex announced he was near remission:
“I told the doctors, this has to be more than just chemo,” he told the outlet. “I’ve had a couple million people out there who expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy and their prayers. The doctors said it could very well be an important part of this.”
Because sometimes the power of PRAYER is truly the only explanation.
He’s now sharing another update:
