CNN Had A Townhall With James Comey For Inexplicable Reasons And It Went Exactly As You Would Think It Would Go.

Is James Comey running for president now? Is this where we’re headed? Because I cannot fathom any possible reason why any network, EVEN ONE AS DUMB AND USELESS AS CNN, would host a townhall with a former disgraced FBI Director who currently spends his days taking pictures of empty roads and forests.

But leave it to CNN to give a platform to the weasel-iest weasel in Weaseltown.

You can watch the whole thing here, but seriously why.

Highlights? So glad you asked. Anderson Cooper (who else?) asked Comey if Trump had “corrupt intent” to obstruct justice in the whole Russia investigation. And Comey said, “It sure looks that way.”

Comey was also asked whether Trump could be indicted after he’s no longer president, and Comey said, “The Justice Department will have to take a serious look at that.”

Comey said, about Rod Rosenstein, “I think people like that, like Rod Rosenstein, who are people of accomplishment but not real sterling character, strong character, find themselves trapped. And then they start telling themselves a story to justify their being trapped which is, ‘Yeah, he’s awful but the country needs me.”

Comey wrote in a recent op-ed that basically every Republican in Congress right now is having their soul eaten by the president in small bites. He followed up on that theme during the townhall, saying, “Republicans are doing this in Congress. ‘Yeah, it’s awful, but if I speak I’ll get defeated and this nation needs me here right now.’ So they start to make little compromises to stay on the team. Talk about collusion, saying that’s what I need to do to survive and in the process, he has eaten their soul, they’re lost. So that’s what happens to so many of people.”

And even though the Mueller report concluded, after a thorough TWO AND A HALF YEAR INVESTIGATION, that there was no collusion with Russia, this exchange happened:

Cooper: Do you think the Russians have leverage over President Trump?

Comey: I don’t know the answer to that.

Cooper: Think it’s possible?

Comey: Yes.

What in the holy hell.

Trump, as you might have guessed, has reacted.

He’s not wrong.

This entire hullabaloo has reached harassment proportions, especially given that Trump Jr. is being subpoenaed, and we have crypt dwellers like Richard Blumenthal suggesting that he should be in jail.

Lara Trump was on with Tucker last night responding to the subpoena and Blumenthal’s comments, and she was EXACTLY RIGHT:

So over it.
