Trump Weighs In On The Current Border Security ‘Deal’

February 15th is approaching, and you know what that means. If no deal is reached, we’ll have another shutdown on our hands.

Any progress? Meh. The current deal only provides $1.375 billion for a physical barrier. That’s well below the $5(ish) billion requested.

President Trump said today that he’s not incredibly dazzled by the current proposal on the table.

“Am I happy? The answer is no, I’m not. I’m not happy,” Trump said of the current agreement.

He said he’ll have to “study it” before he takes a solid position.

“I’m adding things to it,” Trump said. “It’s all going to happen, where we’re going to build a beautiful, big, strong wall.”

“I don’t think you’re going to see a shutdown,” he added. “If you did have it, it’s the Democrats’ fault.”

The latest? Here you go.

I’m not incredibly thrilled with that tone. It sounds a little cave-y, but maybe– hopefully–I’m mistaken. Maybe that’s just him trying to sound optimistic.

Do not cave, Mr. President.
